The Francis E. Charles Trophy, donated by the members of the Hull Yacht Club, is in recognition of Franny's participation in the sport of yacht racing and his support of Junior Sailing. He was an active sailor in the 110 and 210 class and was past Commodore of the Hull Yacht Club. This trophy is emblematic of the MBSA Junior Doublehanded series. The names of the winning crew along with their Yacht Club are suitably engraved on this trophy. The first MBSA Junior Doublehanded event was held in 1979. Conditions for this series are identical to the Sears Cup regulations with the competition open to any recognized member organization within Mass Bay. The winner qualifies for the Charles F. Street Memorial Trophy, Area A series. A competitor entering this series may not enter the triplehanded competition.
